MASERATI IN AID OF WOMAC AT LONDON FASHION WEEK

13.02.2008 / London-Cairo-Modena /

Unlike the Maserati importer in Egypt, MTI, we find Maserati in every other part of the world creating a positive image and encouraging headlines. And as London gets ready to play host to over 50 trend setting designers showing their Autumn/Winter 08 collections, Italian supercar legend Maserati has once again paired up with London’s leading model agency Independent to create a truly glamorous partnership.

The on-going collaboration sees the luxurious Maserati Quattroporte and the internationally acclaimed GranTurismo transporting gorgeous catwalk queens and celebrities to the shows and the various events taking place in the Capital throughout the week. The Quattroportes will be a luxurious haven from the frenetic catwalk shows for the models, while the Maserati GranTurismo, which makes its “catwalk debut” this season, will offer a refined and ultra-stylish retreat, whisking them between shows and to after-show parties.
Models Jenny, Morwenna, Rosa and Cat support WOMAC by wearing the Maserati Calandra t-shirts

This year’s London Fashion Week main venue is the British Fashion Council Tent at the Natural History Museum. A variety of elegant Quattroportes and GranTurismos will be chauffeuring internationally known supermodels such as Jodie Kidd, Erin O’Connor and Twiggy, alongside up and coming models taking their first steps in the fashion world.

As London Fashion Week’s hectic schedule kicks off, Maserati GB, in collaboration with Independent models, are proud to offer their support to WOMAC (Women On the Move Against Cancer) by donating to this charity the proceedings from the sales of the Maserati Calandra t-shirts.

Inspired by Maserati’s iconic grille and worn by celebrities and top models from Independent, the Calandra t-shirts are on sale at Harrods until 23rd February directly from the Maserati window display on Brompton Road.

Established in 1979, WOMAC (Women On the Move Against Cancer) is made up of over 65 female volunteers working in the motor and associated industries. They organise events and activities to raise money for cancer charities. Their aim is to help continue the fight against cancer by supporting a variety of projects, searching for more effective treatments or improving the quality of life for cancer sufferers, their families and carers. WOMAC funds a different cancer project each year. It could be to help patients at home as well as in a hospital or hospice, perhaps to provide equipment or buildings for the treatment of men, women or children.

The Maserati models were not less stunning than the catwalk models. The Maserati Quattroporte Automatic features a 4244 cc V8 wet sump engine, which produces an impressive torque figure of 460 Nm at just 4250 rpm and 400 hp at 7000 rpm. The collaboration between Maserati and German transmission experts, ZF, has resulted in an exceptionally flexible and responsive six-speed automatic gearbox that allows changes at engine speeds up to 7500 rpm. This endows the Quattroporte Automatic with truly superb performance figures: a top speed of 167 mph, and 0-62 mph in just 5.6 seconds. Maserati Quattroporte Automatic from £77,090 on the road, including 3 year/30,000 miles servicing package and 3 year/unlimited mileage warranty.

The Maserati GranTurismo is a true four-seat, thoroughbred, muscular sports car, which is thrilling to drive, and makes no compromises when it comes to on-board functionality and comfort. The large oval front grille and the long bonnet furrowed with the classic “V” streak make the GranTurismo instantly recognisable. Powered by a prodigious V8 engine producing 405 hp, the GranTurismo represents the ultimate in trans-continental crossing, high-performance luxurious motoring. Prices for the Maserati GranTurismo start at £78,500.

Strangely we found the Maserati GT launch in Egypt kept as such a secret by Maserati Egypt / MTI, giving you the impression that the beautiful GT was something Maserati should be ashamed and embarrassed of. That’s surely not a very smart but rather contra-productive move from MTI, the current Maserati and Ferrari importer in Egypt.
